Shabu, marijuana worth P18M seized in Calabarzon in June; 875 busted

LUCENA CITY — Police in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Calabarzon) seized more than P18 million worth of illegal drugs during their month-long operations in June.

The Police Regional Office 4A (PRO-4A) public information office (PIO) reported on Monday, July 1, that anti-narcotics operatives arrested 875 suspects during 675 anti-illegal drug operations across the region in June.

The law enforcers seized 2,616.53 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and 2,177.30 grams of marijuana with a total value of P18,053,680, the report said.

The arrested persons were detained and faced complaints for violating the country’s anti-drugs law.

The report also said the cops arrested 1,853 persons engaged in illegal cockfights, card games, toss coins, and board games such as bingo and mah-jong during 819 operations in June.

The police also held suspected bet collectors for the illegal operation of Small Town Lottery called “bookies.”

Authorities seized a total of P668,974 bet money from illegal gamblers.

At least 441 criminal cases have been filed in court against the arrested suspects.
