MANILA, Philippines – As we enter the rainy season, Manila Water reminds its customers of the importance of regular desludging to maintain efficient septic system at home.
Manila Water recommends regular siphoning of household septic tanks every 3-5 years to prevent build-up of sludge in the septic tank which can block pipes and drains, leading to overflows and system failure.

“Aside from property damage, septic tank overflow can also cause environmental damage and health risks. The untreated wastewater can contaminate the water supply network at home and reach the ground and nearby water bodies and can also lead to an outbreak of waterborne diseases,” says Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water Corporate Communication Affairs Group Director.
