GCash said that there were no data breaches in its systems after it launched an investigation.

MANILA, Philippines — GCash said that there were no data breaches in its systems after it launched an investigation.

According to GCash in a statement on Thursday, this came after there were reports that surfaced about an alleged breach of its know-your-customer or KYC data.

“Based on our initial findings, there are no indications of a data breach in our systems and this has no impact on customer funds and their accounts remain safe and secure,” GCash said.

The electronic wallet company added that it was working with authorities and its regulators to investigate the alleged incident.

It likewise told customers to take steps to protect their data.

“We remind our customers to protect their personal information and regularly update their passwords and MPIN (Mobile Personal Identification Number),” it added.
