Pagasa issues Central, Southern Luzon thunderstorm, rain alert

MANILA, Philippines—Parts of Central and Southern Luzon may experience rain showers on Friday, the state weather bureau said.

According to the 11:41 a.m. thunderstorm advisory of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds may hit Quezon, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Laguna, and Zambales.

The rains may begin two hours after the issuance of the advisory, Pagasa said.

It added that at the time of the advisory’s release, rains were being experienced in some areas of Batangas, which can last two hours and can also extend to nearby areas.

Pagasa advised the public to watch out for flash floods and landslides.
