LUCENA CITY — A police officer in Laguna allegedly lost his service firearm when his motorcycle fell into a canal in Pila town on Thursday, June 27.

The Region 4A police report Friday said Staff Sergeant Dave Joseph Loterte, 39, assigned at Calauan town police station, lost control of his motorcycle as he was traveling in Barangay Tubuan around 8:30 p.m.

The motorcycle fell into an irrigation canal on the side of the road with the rider still on it.

As rescuers lifted him from the canal, the victim noticed and alleged that his issued short firearm, a GLOCK 17 Gen 4 9mm with serial number PNP66990, was missing from the right portion of his waist, the report said. Efforts to find the missing gun were unsuccessful.
