One way of smuggling illegal drugs into the Cebu City jail involves throwing it over the fence.
The modus, called “bombing-bombing,” was traced to the jail’s next-door neighbor, Operation Second Chance, a detention home for minors in barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.
Because of this technique, fish nets were recently installed covering the space from roof to fence in the youth facility, said SJO2 Cristory Gatuba, deputy jail warden of Cebu City’sOperation Second chance.
The two facilities are separated by a 30-foot concrete wall.
Police on Wednesday arrested 28-year-old Jupiter Mayola, a visitor in Operation Second Chance, where security is less tight. He had two sticks of marijuana, two Nubain ampules and 50 disposable lighters when he was inspected by jailguards. Mayola was previously detained on drug charges sin 2003.
Mayola said a certain Upi asked him to bring the seized items to the facility./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
