9 motorists hurt in Quezon road mishap

LUCENA CITY – Nine motorists were injured in an accident along the Maharlika Highway in Atimonan town in Quezon province on Monday, June 24.

In a spot report, the Quezon police said that at around 4:40 p.m., the right rear tire of a Toyota Hiace van driven by Roel Tablizo, 34, exploded while traveling along the highway in Barangay (village) Balubad.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and consequently crashed into the gutter and plants on the side of the road.

The wayward van subsequently rolled down, tilted on its side, and finally landed on the highway’s hilly portion.

One of the passengers was thrown off the vehicle and landed on the pavement.

Tablizo and his eight passengers all suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police are conducting further investigation as of posting.
