3 wounded as ‘cop’ goes on shooting spree in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – Three people were wounded early Friday morning after an alleged policeman went on a shooting spree in Barangay (village) Socorro in Cubao district, Quezon City, radio reports said.

The victims – village watchman Nicanor Balbuena, 37, Raymond Veloso and Mary Vidal – suffered gunshot wounds to the body but were reported in stable condition in hospital.

Police have launched a manhunt for the alleged policeman who fled on board a motorcycle.

Reports said the village watchman was shot when he tried to pacify the policeman who figured in a fight with a group of men. Before speeding off on his motorcycle, the gunman fired indiscriminately hitting bystanders Veloso and Vidal, who is three months pregnant.
