MANILA, Philippines — Disciplinary actions await personnel and officers found to be “protecting” illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogo) in the country, according to Philippine National Police Chief General Rommel Marbil.

In a statement on Sunday, Marbil reminded police officers “of their duty to uphold the law and maintain the highest standards of integrity,” particularly in operations and cases related to Pogos.

“Integrity and accountability are the cornerstones of our public service,” the Philippine National Police (PNP) top official said.

“This policy serves as a reminder: Engage in illegal activities, and you will be dealt with accordingly,” he warned.

His statement comes amid the campaign of PNP against illegal Pogos and their discovery in Porac, Pampanga and Bamban, Tarlac, among others.

“Coordinated efforts led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) have dismantled multiple illegal POGO operations across the country,” the PNP said.

“These operations have led to numerous arrests, seizure of illicit equipment, and significant disruption of unlawful activities, reinforcing the PNP’s dedication to eradicating illegal gambling,” it added.
