MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers are expected in most parts of the country on Sunday due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, and localized thunderstorms, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its morning forecast, Pagasa said habagat will mainly affect the western portion of Southern Luzon.

Localized thunderstorms will bring rain showers over the rest of the country, especially from afternoon until evening, it also noted.

(The southwest monsoon continues to affect the western part of Southern Luzon, where it will still cause scattered rain and thunderstorms here in Palawan.)

(Over the rest of the country, we will still experience isolated rain showers, especially in the afternoon and evening due to the southwest and localized thunderstorms.)

For the next few days, easterlies will prevail in most parts of Visayas and Mindanao, while habagat will have no effect in any part of the country.

Pagasa has not monitored any weather disturbance or low-pressure area inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Castañeda further said no gale warning was raised in any of the country’s seaboards.
