MANILA, Philippines — Taal Volcano had a degassing activity at its main crater early morning on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Based on Phivolcs’ visual monitor of the Agoncillo Observation Station, the degassing activity happened from 1:30 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. and produced thick plumes that rose 2,400 meters high before drifting northwestward.

Philvolcs noted that Taal has been degassing “significant volumes” of volcanic gas since March 2021.
