“I always had it in my heart to serve the people through the government as a way of giving back to the taxpayers who gave me the means to finish my education. I am, after all, a product of the public school system,” he said.

Multisectoral experience

Prior to his appointment, Guilas was vice president and director of the Newport World Resorts, besides taking senior executive roles in several banks. He was also a former anchor of the People’s Television Network.

The President also named Greg Pua Jr. as executive director of the Land Transportation Office and Ermelita Valdeavilla as chairperson of the Philippine Commission on Women.
