LUCENA CITY — A 47-year-old fisherman was stabbed dead Thursday, June 20, in Infanta town in Quezon over an alleged old grudge.

The Quezon police said in a report Friday that Bonifacio Malabatuan confronted “Erwin,” 48, in Barangay Dinahican at 1:40 a.m. over a past incident where the latter slapped the son of the former.

The confrontation turned into a heated argument that led Erwin to stab Malabatuan repeatedly with a bolo.

Investigators said Erwin fled after the incident and left his victim dead on the spot.

Police and village watchmen later arrested him.

Aside from the bolo used by the suspect in the killing, the authorities also found him in alleged possession of five plastic sachets of shabu (crystal meth) worth P2,040.

The suspect was detained and is facing the corresponding criminal charges. INQ
