MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and rains due to the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” are expected in most parts of the country on Friday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Makikita natin dito sa ating latest satellite images itong mga kaulapan sa western section in ating bansa na umaabot sa central and southern portions ng Pilipinas,” said Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil in an early morning bulletin.

“Dahil may kalawakan ang epekto ng hanging habagat ngayong araw, makararanas tayo ng kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at pagkidlat,” Villamil added.
(Due to the effects of the habagat, we will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.)
Villamil said parts of Quezon, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region, Bicol region, and the entire Visayas and Mindanao will see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies, possible isolated rain showers, and thunderstorms are likewise forecast in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
He added that the weather conditions may prevail until Saturday.
“Pagsapit naman ng Linggo at early next week ay unti-unti nang mababawasan ‘yung mga areas na mararanasan ang tuloy-tuloy na pag-ulan,” Villamil added.
(By Sunday, until early next week, areas will be reduced where continuous rains prevail.)
Meanwhile, Pagasa did not raise gale warnings over the country’s seaboards.
