A grenade explosion inside a restaurant in Quiapo, Manila, late Wednesday night injured nine people, including two teenagers.
The Manila Police District said a fight among customers inside the Sun Beam restaurant on Quezon Boulevard may have driven one of them to lob an MK2 fragmentation grenade at the establishment at around 11 p.m.
The blast injured several customers identified as Reynaldo Lupejo, 22, and Racilbo Bololgon, 19, both from Manila’s Sta. Cruz district; Clarissa Paraiso, 15, from the Sampaloc district; Floren Marina, 28, and Merla Mosilla, 26, from Quiapo; Jovena Binan, 31, and Alchi Binan, 49, from Davao City.
Also hurt were restaurant waitresses Ashley Salas, 20, of Sampaloc, and Gina Bautista, 38, of Sta. Cruz.
The victims were rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Maynila, and United Doctors Medical Center.—Jaymee T. Gamil
