MANILA, Philippines — With embattled Mayor Alice Guo allegedly owning both a Chinese and Filipino passport, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Wednesday said the mayor may be a flight risk.
According to Gatchalian, assuming that Guo’s Chinese passport is still valid, the suspended mayor may opt to fly to China should the situation call for it.
“Possible, possible maging flight risk siya (it is possible that she will become a flight risk),” Gatchalian told reporters in a Kapihan sa Senado.

“If she has a Chinese passport, she can easily return to China, to cool down the situation first. There is nothing we can do because she is a Chinese citizen, so that can happen, that is possible if she is really under pressure,” he added.
Guo’s alleged real identity is said to be “Guo Hua Ping,” citing her family’s application for a Special Investors Resident Visa (SIRV).
Gatchalian said that based on records, Guo Hua Ping first entered the Philippines on January 12, 2003 using a Chinese passport, when she was only 13 years old and accompanied by her suspected Chinese biological mother, Lin Wenyi.
Guo, through her legal counsel, immediately denied this, but the senator said that based on immigration records Guo could have used both passports from 2008 to 2011.
