MANILA, Philippines — Buses, trucks and other vehicles with vertical clearance above 2.5 meters will be prohibited from passing the u-turn slot on Edsa Quezon Avenue (Q. Ave.) starting July 22, said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday.

According to the MMDA in a traffic advisory, the u-turn slot, both northbound and southbound, will only be passable to light vehicles.

“The closure of the u-turn slot is to give way to the installation of scaffolding under the flyover, which will limit the vertical clearance to 2.5 meters only,” the agency said.

The MMDA then advised affected buses and trucks to take alternate routes.

Vehicles traveling from Edsa southbound should turn left to Quezon Ave., left at Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago Ave., left at North Ave., to Mindanao Ave or Edsa to their point of destination.

Vehicles traveling from Edsa northbound should go straight towards North Ave, then make a u-turn in front of Quezon City Academy to their point of destination.

The MMDA said the scaffolding is part of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ ongoing project of retrofitting or strengthening of permanent bridges.
