Guo tells Bersamin: Accusations against me are baseless
Alice Guo, the suspended mayor of a Tarlac town, asserted her innocence directly to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and denied all allegations hurled against her.
In a June 18 letter addressed to Bersamin, she said: “Mariin kong pinabubulaanan ang anumang pagkakasangkot sa mga umano’y kaso ng kidnapping, illegal detention o human trafficking. Ang mga paratang na ito ay ganap na walang batayan at walang kahit anong katotohanan.”
Search for missing Filipino crew on MV Tutor to begin after docking—DMW
Search operations for a missing Filipino sailor aboard the ill-fated MV Tutor will be undertaken as soon as the vessel reaches a safe dock, said the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Tuesday.
This comes after the White House stated that a Filipino sailor was “killed” when Yemen’s Houthi rebels attacked the cargo carrier on June 12 while sailing along the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Monday said the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will resist China Coast Guard’s (CCG) “dangerous and reckless” behavior off Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal.
After CCG’s “solemn warning” was ignored, the coast guard said that its vessel took “control measures” against the Filipino resupply boat for entering the waters off Ayungin Shoal at 5:59 a.m. on Monday, causing a collision between the two.
Remains of 3 Kuwait fire victims arrive in PH
The remains of the three Kuwait-based Filipinos who died when a fire broke out in a heavily populated residential building south of the city, arrived in the Philippines on Monday afternoon, according to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
OWWA said in a statement that the remains of the victims were received by their families along with the agency’s administrator, Arnell Ignacio, and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, among other officials (see Facebook post).
