LUCENA CITY – A 27-year-old motorcycle race participant died Sunday morning, June 16, after his vehicle collided with a van in Agdangan town in Quezon province.

In a spot report, Quezon police said the victim, alias “Kim,” a participant in the ongoing “1st Guinayangan Motorcycle Endurance Challenge,” was negotiating a curved section of the provincial road in Barangay (village) Salvacion around 8:30 a.m.

The rider occupied the opposite lane and consequently hit the oncoming Hiace Commuter van driven by alias “Jayson,” 27, the police said.

Jayson and Kim were taken to a hospital in neighboring Unisan town.

However, the motorcycle racer died along the way due to grave injuries.

According to the police, the families of both parties were open to an amicable settlement.

Kim was a resident of Del Gallego town in Camarines Sur.
