Pagasa: Rain in Metro Manila, other Luzon areas by June 14 afternoon

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains may be expected in Metro Manila and other provinces in Luzon on Friday afternoon due to thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa announced in an advisory that rains with lightning and winds may occur within two to three hours in parts of Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan,  Quezon, and Rizal.

The advisory was issued around noon, but the state weather bureau said Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Zambales, and Bataan were already experiencing rain that may last up to two hours.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” Pagasa told the public.

Earlier, Pagasa’s forecast indicated that rains may be anticipated in some areas of Western Mindanao due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, while fair weather is likely in other parts of the country.
