MANILA, Philippines — Isolated rains and thunderstorms are expected in western Mindanao due to the weak southwest monsoon, or “habagat”, while fair, warm weather is forecast in the rest of Mindanao, Visayas and most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, the state weather bureau said on Friday.
(Isolated rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Zamboanga Peninsula, as well as Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, and Palawan.)
(Visayas and the rest of Mindanao will have fair weather with slightly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rains in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.)
Aurelio said most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will continue to experience warm and fair weather due to the extension of the ridge of the high-pressure area.
Fair weekend weather
The ridge of high pressure area will strengthen beginning Saturday and is expected to “push southwest monsoon away” from the Philippines, Aurelio said.
(We are expecting that the southwest monsoon will no longer prevail this weekend, hence, the entire country will experience warm and fair weather, apart from isolated rains.)
