The initial investigation shows that the tanker truck suddenly encroached on the lane of the passenger bus, causing the head-on collision along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Flordeliz at 2:56 a.m.

Dizon said due to the impact, Gobres was thrown out of his vehicle and fell in the middle of the road. He died instantly.

Escano, a resident of Leyte, also died on the spot. The other passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigation is ongoing.
