MANILA, Philippines—Liberal Party spokesman Quezon Representative Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III on Thursday announced his plan to run for senator in the upcoming midterm 2013 elections.
The prosecution spokesman disclosed his plan during a media briefing at the House of Representatives but declined to comment on whether Chief Justice Renato Corona’s possible conviction could boost his chances of becoming senator.
“It’s hard to react because surveys change. After a few months after the impeachment, the minds of the people may be diverted to other issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aurora Representative Juan Edgardo Angara, also a spokesperson for the prosecution, said that he has yet to decide whether he will run for senator.
