MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Airlines (PAL) warned the public on Tuesday of a fake Facebook page promoting a bogus cheap travel deal.

In a Facebook post, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said that a Facebook page named “Philippine Airlines,” with a profile picture of the letter “P” on a gray background, is not an official airline account.

The deceptive page even posted a photo of a suspicious PAL receipt worth P168, urging the public to avail themselves of the promo.

“Imagine 6 free flights for only P168 from Philippine Airlines! This offer won’t last forever  — the number of applications is limited. Hurry up so you don’t miss this incredible opportunity to travel,” the caption read.

But in her post, Villaluna emphasized that PAL does not condone any deception using an inauthentic PAL page and will take legal action to take down the account.

“As a reminder and for your protection, PAL issues official announcements, including flight promotional ads, using the airline’s official website at www.philippineairlines.com and the official PAL Facebook page,” she added.

Villaluna also advised the public against interacting with fraudulent sites, as it could compromise their personal data.
