MANILA, Philippines — A parcel containing illegal drugs was seized in Pasay City last June 7 and resulted in the arrest of an individual from Taguig, according to the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

BOC said that its operatives at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, along with personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Naia Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, intercepted P13,495,100 worth of narcotics inside the Center Mail Exchange Center.

The parcel from Denmark was initially declared as canned food and fruits. It was consigned to an unnamed individual residing in Taguig City, the agency further revealed in a statement.

Among the drugs the package carries were 5,003 pieces of Ecstasy tablets and 998 grams of Ketamine, based on the field testing PDEA conducted.

BOC said the claimant will be charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act  (Republic Act 10863). —Moss R. Laygo, INQUIRER.net, intern
