DOH says not a single mpox case logged since January 2024

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) said they have not recorded any new cases of the mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) since January this year.

“No additional reported [mpox cases] since the last report,” DOH spokesperson Albert Domingo told reporters on Monday, denying reports that an mpox-related death was logged in Central Visayas.

According to Domingo, the mpox caseload in the Philippines is still at nine.

He said four cases were detected in 2022 and five more were posted in 2023. He said all patients have recovered.

“All of them have recovered, [a] long time ago,” he said.
