About a hundred policemen stormed the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) Compound in Barangay Buhangin in this city to arrest Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his companions early Monday morning.

He is wanted for child abuse, sexual abuse and qualified trafficking cases against him in Davao and Pasig courts.

3-day strike vs PUV crackdown begins

Transport group Manibela will start its three-day transport strike today to protest the directive from transport authorities to apprehend public utility vehicles that failed to consolidate under the PUV modernization program (PUVMP).

But officials from the Department of Transportation assured the public that the strike would not affect commuters, saying there were enough PUVs on the roads and “rescue vehicles” from the government to ferry stranded passengers.

‘Bagong Pilipinas’ hymn, pledge now in flag rites

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued an order to government offices and public schools to include the singing of the “Bagong Pilipinas” (“New Philippines”) hymn and reciting of the pledge during their flag rites “to further instill the principles of the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and leadership” among state personnel and employees.

Marcos issued Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 52 on June 4, a copy of which was released to the media on Sunday, directing “all national government agencies and instrumentalities, including GOCCs (government-owned and -controlled corporations) and educational institutions, such as SUCs (state universities and colleges),” and encouraging local government units (LGUs) “to integrate the recital of the Bagong Pilipinas Hymn and Pledge in the conduct of the weekly flag ceremonies, subject to existing laws, rules and regulations.”

Pimentel: Law needed to mandate singing of Bagong Pilipinas hymn, new pledge

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III believes a law is still needed to mandate the singing of the Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) hymn during flag ceremonies in government offices and instrumentalities, including institutional institutions.

The order is contained in Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 52, issued on June 4 but only released to the media on Sunday.
