Habagat may cause floods in 6 regions, warns Pagasa

Six regions nationwide may experience floods due to the southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.

MANILA, Philippines — Six regions nationwide may experience floods due to the effects of southwest monsoon or habagat, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.

According to flood advisory of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the areas below may flood:

Cordillera Administrative Region

Region 1 (Ilocos Region)

Region 3 (Central Luzon)

Region 4B (Mimaropa)

Region 6 (Western Visayas)

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao

Pagasa likewise advised people in areas that are in risk of disasters and their local government disaster management units to take necessary precautions.

“People living near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above mentioned river systems and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned still advised to take necessary precautionary measures,” it said.
