DOH: No unique symptoms observed for COVID-19 variant KP.2
MANILA, Philippines — The symptoms of the COVID-19 FLiRT variant KP.2, as well as the other variants detected in the country, are the same, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday.
According to DOH Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo, there were no unique symptoms observed in the new variant.

“There have been no unique or different symptoms observed for KP.2,” Domingo said in a message to reporters.
“They are the same: fever, cough, colds, fatigue — similar to flu and the common cold,” he added.
On Tuesday, the DOH confirmed that the KP.2 variant has entered the country.
It likewise told the people that the KP.2 variant can cause severe COVID-19 among patients, but the increase in cases in the country is manageable.
“There is still no evidence now that the KP.2 and KP.3 variants are causing severe to critical COVID-19, both locally and internationally. Further assessment continues to determine transmissibility and capacity to evade immune response,” it said in a separate release.

The DOH also reminded the public to continue observing health safety measures such as the wearing of face masks, handwashing, and avoiding crowded areas.
