LUCENA CITY – A 27-year-old motorcycle rider died and another one was injured Monday after their unregistered vehicles collided in Sariaya town in Quezon province.
The Quezon police said in a report on Tuesday, June 4, that motorcycle driver Michael Villamor, 27, was negotiating a section of the eco-tourism road in Barangay Manggalang Kiling at around 10:30 p.m. when he collided with an oncoming motorcycle with sidecar driven by Ronicon Reyes.
Both motorists suffered injuries and were taken to the Quezon Medical Center in this city where Villamor died an hour later while undergoing treatment.
The police said they found no driver’s license from both riders. They also had no government documents for their respective vehicles.
Reyes’ vehicle also had no plate number, police said.
The report did not state if the fatality was wearing a crash helmet as mandated under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
Both parties were working out an amicable settlement, the police said.
