LUCENA CITY — A police officer and the alleged suspect were wounded in an armed encounter during an operation Monday in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

In a report on Tuesday, June 4, the Region 4A police said local policemen were conducting an anti-illegal gambling operation in Barangay H2 at 5:15 p.m. when one alias “Mensu” shot the policemen using a handgun, and an exchange of gunfire erupted.

Police Staff Sergeant Jose Granados was hit on his stomach and right leg. He was rushed to the De La Salle University Medical Center for treatment.

Mensu, who was hit on his chest, managed to escape after the shooting. He was brought to another hospital.

The suspect was later arrested in Barangay Sultan Ismael during a follow-up operation.

Granados and Mensu were both in stable condition, police said.
