CIDG nabs 2 for illegal selling of firearms in Angeles City

MANILA, Philippines—Two people were arrested over the weekend for illegally selling firearms in Angeles City, Pampanga, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said.

In a report on Monday, the Philippine National Police’s CIDG said alias May, 41, and Jay, 33, were nabbed during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pulung Maragul at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday.

A CIDG operative pretended to be the buyer of the two suspects.

Confiscated from May and Jay were two units of 5.56mm rifles, two magazines for 5.56mm rifles, two rifle bags, a phone, boodle money, and a vehicle, according to police.

The CIDG said May and Jay would face complaints for violating Section 32 of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The two suspects and the pieces of evidence are currently under the custody of the CIDG’s field unit in Angeles City.
