MANILA, Philippines A hot and humid Monday due to easterlies with possible rain showers in the afternoon and evening is expected nationwide, according to the state weather bureau.

In its early morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said easterlies and a frontal system continue to affect the country.

(The easterlies will continue to bring relatively hot conditions by mid-day, while there is a high chance of rain in the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorms.)

(There are cloud clusters in extreme Northern Luzon; this is part of a frontal system that may bring rain, particularly in the Batanes and Babuyan Islands.)

Badrina said the frontal system will bring rain to parts of Northern Luzon in the coming days.

He also reported that the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” is also forecast to bring rain to Luzon’s northern and western parts, particularly the Ilocos region.

Pagasa said it is not monitoring any low-pressure area inside and around the Philippine area of responsibility.

No gale warning is in effect over any of the the country’s seaboards, Pagasa added.
