MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.3 earthquake hit Babuyan Island in Calayan, Cagayan, on Friday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The temblor occurred at 8:11 p.m. and was located 13 kilometers (kms) southeast of the island.

Phivolcs said it was tectonic in origin, with a depth of focus of 17 kms.
No instrumental or reporter intensities were recorded.
There is also no aftershock of damage to property expected from the tremor, said Phivolcs.
