MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is eyeing to file two more cases against the suspect in the road rage in Makati City that resulted in the fatal shooting and death of a stay-in driver.

In a press conference on Thursday, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said they are now preparing the pertinent documents and planning to file the cases against Gerrard Raymund Yu within the day.

(Aside from a murder case, the suspect may also face two more complaints.)

“Ito po yung violation of Republic Act (RA) 4136 (The Land Transportation and Traffic Code) paggamit na illegal dun sa plaka. Another kaso na pwedeng i-kaso ay yung violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act),” she identified.

(This is for violating RA 4136 for switching the plates of his vehicle. He may also face another case for violating RA 10591.)

The cases are on top of a murder complaint.

The PNP official believes that Yu is the person behind the killing, citing the results of the paraffin test and ballistic examination.

According to Fajardo, the cases will be filed in Makati, where the shooting occurred.

But when asked if police had already talked with the suspect or if he had already given information relevant to the case, Fajardo said that he preferred to keep mum on the matter amid the ongoing investigation.

Reports said that 65-year-old driver Aniceto Mateo was shot to death along the southbound lane of the Edsa Ayala tunnel in Makati last May 28 around 2:30 p.m.

The suspect was aboard a black Mercedes Benz with a plate number BCS77.

Authorities disclosed that Mateo was with passengers Marites Valmorio, 47, and a minor when the shooting occurred.

They were on board a white Toyota Innova and were on their way to Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

On Wednesday, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief Benjamin Abalos Jr. announced the suspect’s arrest while presenting him before the media.

Abalos revealed that the black Mercedes Benz was registered to a certain individual living in Las Piñas but could no longer be found there.

A follow-up operation eventually led to the suspect’s location along Riverside Village, Pasig City.

Based on police records, a black Mercedes Benz with plate number DAD98670 was also found in the residence, and plate number BCS77 was discovered inside the vehicle.

Yu also underwent a paraffin test, while the two caliber pistols also found in his home were subjected to ballistic examination.

Results showed that Yu tested positive for gunpowder from the confiscated firearms, which Abalos said matched with the recovered fired cartridge at the scene.
