MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and rain are expected to prevail in several parts of Luzon on Thursday due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

(Due to the southwest monsoon, there is a high chance of cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly in parts of the Ilocos Region, Bataan, Zambales, Occidental Mindoro [and Palawan.)

However, hot and humid weather is still expected over the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, with chances of isolated rain and thunderstorms.

Likewise, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast throughout Visayas and Mindanao.

Pagasa is currently monitoring no low-pressure areas or tropical cyclones within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

Meanwhile, Badrina said that one to two cyclones are expected to enter PAR in June.

(Come June, we expect one or two cyclones to enter or form within PAR.)
