The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday said it had already summoned the registered owner of the vehicle involved in a road rage incident in Makati City where one individual was shot dead.

MANILA, Philippines  – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday summoned the registered owner of the vehicle involved in a road rage incident in Makati City that resulted in the fatal shooting of an individual.

In a statement, LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said the registered car owner was identified as from Las Piñas City. The owner was ordered to appear before the LTO-National Capital Region office to explain the incident with a notarized affidavit.

The owner is facing two violations under the show cause order — Reckless Driving under Joint Administrative Order 2014-01, and Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle under Republic Act 4136.

“Furthermore, please be informed that the Mercedes Benz with Plate No. BCS77 will be placed under alarm pending investigation,” the show cause order read.

Meanwhile, Mendoza said criminal cases regarding the shooting incident are separately being investigated by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“Malakas ang koordinasyon ng inyong LTO at ng PNP especially sa mga ganitong uri ng krimen. Upon the request ng PNP ay tumulong po tayo sa isinasagawang imbestigasyon ng PNP and on our part, we issued an SCO against the registered owner,” said Mendoza.

(The LTO and the PNP maintain strong coordination, especially in these types of crimes. Upon the request of the PNP, we will assist in the ongoing investigation of the PNP, and on our part, we issued an SCO against the registered owner.)

Based on police reports, 65-year-old Aniceto Mateo was shot dead along the southbound lane of the Edsa Ayala tunnel at around 2:30 p.m. by the driver of a black Mercedes Benz with a plate number BCS77.
