MANILA, Philippines — Makati Mayor Abby Binay took her oath on Tuesday as a new member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
This came after the NPC previously announced that it was eyeing Binay as one of its candidates in the 2025 senatorial elections.

For her part, Binay appealed for a renewal of purpose among political parties, pointing out the need to “find a common purpose” amid issues facing the country.
“The issues facing our country should be seen as a chance to work together and find common purpose rather than opportunities to sow division,” she said in a statement.
“As leaders and as Filipinos, we should work together to address these issues and make things better for our countrymen,” she added.
She then thanked the NPC and affirmed that, as the 2025 elections are still a year away, she would remain committed to her post as the mayor of Makati.
Binay’s husband, Makati Rep. Luis Campos, administered the oath of membership at the NPC Clubhouse in Quezon City.
NPC President Rep. John Michael Duavit, NPC Secretary General Mark Llandro Mendoza, and Rep. Jaime Cojuangco were also present.
