‘Who is Mr. Anonymous?’ Santiago wants to know

MANILA, Philippines – “Who is Mr. Anonymous?” was the question raised by an irate Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago who wanted to know the identity of this “anonymous” person, saying this was often used by the prosecution in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona as the source of their documentary evidence against the respondent.

“Every time there’s something that requires identification of the source, the prosecution says there is no source, it came anonymously,” Santiago said, directing her question to Harvey Keh, one of those who filed a letter-complaint against Corona at the Office of the Ombudsman.

Keh was presented as a hostile witness by the defense team because of his alleged biases and prejudices against Corona.

“Who is Mr. Anonymous? I want to ask the PNP [Philippine National Police] and the AFP [Armed Forces of the Philippines] to issue an arrest order against him,” said the senator.

“Why is there a proliferation of Mr. Anonymous in this archipelago. And you’re head of something that promotes good governance? That’s your idea of good governance..?” she went on.

Keh is lead convenor of the group called, “Kaya Natin ito.”

The prosecution team first pointed to an anonymous source, a “small lady”, when it submitted to the Senate a copy of bank documents allegedly in the name of Corona.
