CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A small tornado struck the farming village of Candating in Arayat, Pampanga, on Monday (May 27), the town mayor confirmed to the Inquirer.

It occurred in the village at around 1 p.m., knocking over electricity posts and damaging 20 houses, according to Mayor Maria Lourdes Alejandrino.

No one was reported injured or dead due to the twister.

Alejandrino said it was known to be the first tornado to hit Candating in many decades.

In June 2023, a twister hit Barangay Cabalantian in Bacolor, damaging St. Joseph Parish and more than 50 houses.
