MANILA, Philippines — Four people were reportedly injured in Bicol region, while over 2,600 individuals are staying in evacuation centers (ECs) nationwide due to tropical storm Aghon, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Sunday.
In a press conference, OCD spokesperson Edgar Posadas presented a report indicating that the injured persons are in Legazpi, Albay.
“Apat sa Legazpi – tatlong bata 12, 11, 5, lahat lalaki; isang 30-year-old male,” Posadas said.
(Four from Legazpi, Albay, three kids aged 12, 11 and 5; and a 30-year-old male.)
He added that the 30-year-old man was hit by a tricycle and a tree also fell on him.
No details were provided as to how the three minors were injured.
The report also revealed that a total of 2,734 people, or 513 families, were hit by the tropical storm, with 2,669 currently staying in ECs.
According to OCD, Aghon has partially damaged 17 homes and totally destroyed four houses.
Meanwhile, 46 homes from Regions 5 and 8 experienced power interruptions due to the strong winds brought by the tropical storm.
Aside from the displaced persons, PCG earlier reported that 6,338 passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers were stranded in all ports nationwide.
Broken down, 849 people were stranded in Nasipit Port, Northeastern Mindanao; 1,708 in Bicol ports; 1,607 in Eastern Visayas ports; and 2,913 in Southern Tagalog ports.
Due to the increased strength of Aghon, PCG temporarily suspended all sea trips to ensure public safety.
