ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—Communist New People’s Army rebels on Monday night freed a policeman they held captive for more than a month.

Freed was Police Officer 1 Faizal Juhaili, who was taken  prisoner following an April 9 raid on the town center of Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur.

Chief Superintendent Napoleon Estilles, police chief for the Zamboanga Peninsula, said Juhaili’s relatives were directly involved in negotiating with the NPA through  a certain Ustadz Jamiri.
