TACLOBAN CITY – Leyte Rep. Richard Gomez has claimed he received threats to his life but has no plans to beef up his security.

The actor-turned-politician, however, declined to say who he believed was behind the threats.

“Hindi naman ako nagse-security, alam naman ninyo yan. Ingat lang tayo,” he said.

(I do not have this security, you know that. Let’s just be careful.)

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., he said, asked about the threats during their meeting here on Monday, May 20.

“While I was sitting with the President, he asked me about it. He also asked me how it can be stopped. Sabi ko, I have no idea how it can be stopped,” the lawmaker said.

Gomez, representing Leyte’s fourth district, said he did not ask for any assistance from the President.

Marcos was in the city on Monday for the distribution of land titles to more than 5,400 farmers. He sat beside Gomez during the event held at the Tacloban Convention Center.

Gomez is expected to seek a second term as congressional representative of Leyte’s fourth district in next year’s elections.
