Guo accepts Tulfo’s challenge for her to undergo lie detector test

MANILA, Philippines — Controversial Bamban Mayor Alice Guo has committed to undergo a lie detector test to prove that she is not lying about her identity and upbringing.
Senator Raffy Tulfo brought up his dare for Guo to undergo a lie detector test during the Senate panel on women’s Wednesday hearing on the mayor’s alleged ties to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos).
“You are not interested about the history of you and your family. That is very important. Tumatakbo ka. Nasa public office ka. Are you willing to undergo a lie detector test?” asked Tullfo.
(You are running. You are in public office.)
In response, Guo said she is willing to undergo the test.
“[Ito ay] para sa lahat ng sinasabi mo — especially na ikaw ay love child, na hindi nyo [ito] pinag uusapan ng tatay mo. Everything about you — [and] your past. Are you willing? This is voluntary though,” said Tulfo.
(This is for us to determine if what you’re saying is true, especially that you are a love child, that you are not talking about it with your father.)
The senator explained that the results of lie detector tests are not accepted in court, but the outcome will help the committee to determine if the resource speaker is lying.
“Kasi nung nagsabi ka ng totoo, it will help you… On the other hand, kapag it’s the other way around, dito malalaman na ikaw ay sinungaling [at] pwede kang ma-contempt ng committee at pwede kang makulong,” Tulfo said.
(If you’re telling the truth, it will help you. On the other hand, if it’s the other way around, we will know that you are a liar. The committee can cite you for contempt and have you detained.)
Tulfo asked Guo if the agreement is “fair enough” but before she was able to speak, the senator veered away to a different topic.
Guo earlier disclosed that she grew up with her father in a hog-raising farm.
According to her, she stayed hidden, being the love child of her father and his housekeeper.
