MANILA, Philippines — A cloud cluster located east of Mindanao may develop into a low-pressure area (LPA) and affect parts of the country by the weekend, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday.
According to Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina, the cloud cluster is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility but is expected to approach the country closer.
“Maaaring ma-develop itong cloud clusters into LPA ngayong araw o bukas at maaari itong lumapit sa ating bansa,” Badrina said.
(These cloud clusters may develop into an LPA today or tomorrow and may approach closer to the country.)
“Hindi rin natin inaalis ‘yung posibilidad na kung ma-develop ito o maging isang LPA ay posible itong maging bagyo at bagama’t malayo pa … inaasahan natin na magdadala ito ng mga pag-ulan sa may silangang bahagi ng Visayas, ng Mindanao at maging sa Bicol Region towards the weekend,” he added.
(We are also not ruling out the possibility that if it develops or becomes an LPA, it may become a typhoon and although still far away… we expect it to bring rains to the eastern parts of Visayas, Mindanao and even the Bicol Region towards the weekend.)
