Laborer gunned down in Cebu City market

A laborer was shot dead while sleeping in a hammock near a public market in barangay Pasil, Cebu City, past noon yesterday.

Police said at least three men were involved in the killing of Bartolome Aragon, 31, a resident of sitio Wakwak, barangay Sawang Calero.

The victim died on the spot with gunshot wounds in the body and head.

Empty shells of a .45 pistol were recovered in the crime scene.

Deborah Encabo, 32, the victim’s live-in partner, said two men wearing full-faced helmet went to their house past noon and looked for the man.

The woman said she was told that his partner was asked to buy illegal drugs worth P300.

Encabo said the man failed to buy drugs and did not return the money.

Police said the man was previously jailed due to drug charges.

The couple has three children aged 7, 4 and 2.

Encabo said she can identify one of the men if she sees him again.

SPO1 Ruth Violango, homicide investigator, said the assailants had another cohort who served as a lookout during the attack.
