Villanueva, Binay, Angara, Ejercito, Legarda follow Zubiri’s resignation

MANILA, Philippines — A seismic shakeup in the Senate leadership pushed Senators Joel Villanueva, Nancy Binay, Sonny Angara, JV Ejercito and Loren Legarda out of their posts.

The following senators have officially resigned from their seats during the chamber’s Monday plenary session:

Villanueva, Ejercito and Legarda’s moves came after Juan Miguel Zubiri resigned from his post as Senate President.

In the same plenary session, Binay resigned from her post as the chairperson of the chamber’s panel on ethics and tourism.

Meanwhile, Angara has officially resigned from his chairmanship of the Senate finance panels and subcommittee on constitutional amendments.
