Lawmaker supports call for BIR to reach bigger revenue colletions

MANILA, Philippines — A lawmaker has backed the request of House Speaker Martin Romualdez for the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to obtain higher revenue collections.

In a statement on Sunday, House Deputy Majority Leader and TINGOG Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre said it is also necessary for the bureau to improve its tax collection to fund all government projects.

“We’d like to reiterate also the position of the Speaker that the House and Congress have also done their part to also assist BIR, especially with the passage of the Ease of Paying Taxes Act,” Acidre said, as quoted in a statement.

“So, ginagawa natin ang lahat ng makakaya natin to support BIR and its revenue collection initiatives para naman mas mapagaan itong pagbabayad natin ng buwis,” he added.
