Pagasa issues thunderstorm warning in Luzon on Sunday afternoon

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Pampanga, Bataan and Batangas on Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 2:57 p.m., it said the unfavorable weather condition will be experienced “within the next 2 hours.”

Pagasa added that heavy to intense rain showers with lightning and strong winds are being experienced in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Tarlac, Cavite and Laguna.

This condition may persist within two hours and may affect nearby areas, it warned.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” the advisory read.
