Judge’s wife stabbed dead in Iloilo town

ILOILO CITY — The wife of a Capiz Regional Trial Court judge and her granddaughter were found stabbed dead at her residence in Barotac Nuevo town in Iloilo Monday morning.

Sonia Amular, 65, wife of Judge Daniel Amular of the Mambusao, Capiz RTC, died from at least eight stab wounds.

Supt. Gil Lebin, Iloilo police director, said Amular was found around 7:20 a.m. at the family compound in barangay Ilaya Poblacion in Barotac Nuevo, around 30 km northeast of Iloilo City.

Her 17-year-old granddaughter Rubylin Dioso was also found stabbed dead inside the toilet.

She was believed to have been raped because she was found naked.

Insp. Orlando Fangena, Barotac Nuevo police chief, said carpenters who were doing work on the house found the remains of the victims Monday morning.

Investigators have identified two suspects but were still waiting for results of tests from the police criminal laboratory.

Fangena said they were still determining the motive of the killings but the killings could be due to a grudge against Dioso who sustained 25 stab wounds.  /INQUIRER
